The Pavilion Arts Centre, Buxton

The Pavilion Arts Centre is Buxton Opera House’s new second theatre, opened in September 2010, and housed in what was formerly the Paxton Suite of the Pavilion Gardens complex, behind the Opera House after a £2.5m comprehensive refurbishment.  Seventy arts performances per year are planned at the venue which will be a new home for youth and fringe theatre and also support the wider economy of Buxton by attracting conferences into the town.The aim of the reworking of this space is to create an adaptable multi-function 360-seat Main Room and a 93-seat Studio Theatre suitable for the following range of activities:

• Small-scale drama
• Small-scale musical Theatre
• Musical recitals
• Lectures and conferences
• Comedy and stand-up.
